HUMANITAS MILANO AND ROZZANO: UNITED THROUGH ART AND CARE
Today marked the inauguration of “Il Poldi Pezzoli in Humanitas”, a new chapter in the project “La Cura e la Bellezza” (Care and Beauty). Following the introduction of masterpieces from the Pinacoteca di Brera to Humanitas Rozzano in 2023, the works of the masters from the Poldi Pezzoli Museum, a jewel of Lombard art collection, are now adorning the common areas of Humanitas San Pio X in central Milan.
Visitors can now admire the Portrait of a Lady by Pollaiolo, the enigmatic smile of the woman painted by Martinelli, the serene Prato della Valle in Padua by Canaletto, the delicate gesture of hands in Botticelli’s Madonna and Child, and the attentive gaze in Hayez’s Self-Portrait, among other masterpieces. The museum’s ornate clocks and luxury objects, displayed in large-scale formats in hospital corridors and the cafeteria, offer a fresh perspective, bringing the experience of art into the healthcare setting. In total, 350 square meters of beauty now enhance the hospital environment.
This initiative was made possible through the collaboration of the Poldi Pezzoli Museum and the dedicated efforts of doctors, nurses, and staff at Humanitas San Pio X, who have become guides for colleagues, patients, and visitors. As Gianfelice Rocca, President of Humanitas, stated: “Beauty is one of the elements that shape the way we design care spaces, typically intended to be functional and safe. We do this because beauty can improve the experience of those who enter a hospital to heal and be healed.”
