TWO RESEARCH PROJECTS FROM MONZINO AWARDED AT SEED4INNOVATION

Innovative Cardiovascular Research at Monzino Recognized for Advancing Early Diagnosis and Personalized Medicine Approaches.

Two research projects developed at the Centro Cardiologico Monzino have been recognized during the fourth edition of the Seed4Innovation program, promoted by Fondazione UNIMI and the University of Milan.

The CardioScreen: Occhio alla Valvola project, led by Professor Paolo Poggio, has been awarded the Grant Proof of Concept by the University of Milan. This project aims to revolutionize the early diagnosis of aortic valve sclerosis (AVSc), a silent condition with a high cardiovascular risk, through a simple blood test.

CardioScreen Team: Paolo Poggio, Gualtiero Colombo, Luca Piacentini, Veronika Myasoedova, Vincenza Valerio, and Damiano Baldassarre.

The ORGANoro project, developed by the team led by Dr. Rosaria Santoro at Centro Cardiologico Monzino, has entered the acceleration phase. ORGANoro introduces an innovative platform utilizing cardiac organoids for the preclinical assessment of drug efficacy and cardiotoxicity, as well as for personalized medicine approaches.

Special recognition is extended to Fondazione UNIMI, the University of Milan, and the network of mentors from the Seed4Innovation program for their pivotal role in guiding the researchers throughout this initiative.

These achievements underscore the ongoing commitment to advancing cardiovascular medicine through cutting-edge research and innovation.
